Manildra Packing forms part of MSM Milling Pty Ltd, a fully integrated oilseed crushing, refining, oil packaging and stockfeed milling operation located at Manildra. MSM Milling produces the highest quality products for consumers in Australia and around the world, including canola oil and stockfeeds.

MSM Milling is enjoying sustained ongoing growth, and is seeking a suitably qualified can maker (three-piece) to join our friendly and engaging team.

Your opportunity

We have an opportunity for a mechanically sound, experienced can maker (three piece can making a necessity) reporting to the Production Supervisor. This position will have responsibility to maintaining the efficient operation of the drum making plant and machinery, in addition to our other production lines. This role will supervise the technical and operational running of drum, BIB and PET lines and be back up support for the Production Supervisor.

Our packing operations will suit a suitably certified individual capable of multi-tasking in a fast paced manufacturing environment in order to manage a range of priorities and responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Setting, operation and maintenance of Drum line, and the additional BIB & PET lines
  • Maintain and develop processes and procedures to ensure efficient operations of plant and machinery
  • Plan, schedule and implement routine maintenance and servicing, while also ensuring any emergency maintenance is undertaken
  • Maximise plant up time by identifying and rectifying any potential areas of failure or technical issues with relevant plant and machinery
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department, building capability and ensuring spare parts and critical spares are maintained appropriately
  • Commitment to safe working practices with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

 About You

We are looking for someone with specific experience and certification in can making (three piece). You will ideally have:

  • Can making operation and change-over skills
  • Competent trouble shooting abilities
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities for other production lines and supervision
  • Can making machine servicing and overhauls
  • Actively display initiative and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication, keeping everyone informed and ensuring documentation is maintained.
